Our story, that of Châteaux Solidaires, could be told in the style of a modern fantasy...
It all began at the end of the 1930s, at a time when France
found herself in a critical situation. The crisis of 1929
necessitated far-reaching economic renewal; political
instability heralded the end of the 3rd Republic; and, most
importantly, war was on the horizon.
At the time, much work was needed to restructure the
vineyards of Bordeaux.
Faced with chaotic and uncertain conditions, a handful of
Côtes de Bordeaux winemakers decided that in the word
'crisis' there is the idea of 'chance': the chance to renew and
regroup in order to 'live their craft' better, to produce
modern wines, and to advance together! And so Châteaux
Solidaires was born in 1937.
Today, around twenty winemakers have rejoined this movement of quality and solidarity. It's
with force and conviction that we work together to give life to the wines behind this dream.
